Broadband setup guide
We’ve made it super easy to set up your new Electric Kiwi broadband.
Just follow the steps below to install your modem and connect to your wifi.
What’s in the box?
A Modem
B RJ11 to RJ11 cable (landline)
C Ethernet cable (yellow clip)
D Ethernet cable (blue clip)
E Power Cable
Modem installation
- Plug the blue Ethernet cable into the WAN port on the modem & plug the other end into the port labelled GE1 or LAN1 on your ONT (the fibre box usually found on your wall).
- Plug the power cable into the modem and your power point and turn the modem on.
That’s it! Your internet should now be up and running.
Connecting to your Wi-Fi
Make sure you’ve connected your modem first, then scan the QR code on the back of the modem to quickly connect.
If you don't want to use the QR code, follow these steps.
- Go to the Wi-Fi settings or network finder on your device.
- Select the Wi-Fi network ‘MESH-WIFI-XXXX’
- Enter the Wi-Fi Password on the back of the modem.
Repeat these steps on all devices you want to connect!
Ethernet connections
To connect via Ethernet, plug the yellow Ethernet cable into any of the numbered Ethernet ports on the modem and plug the other end into your device (e.g. PC, TV, or game console).
Changing your Wi-Fi username & password
After connecting your device to the internet, you can change your Wi-Fi username & password manually via the modem:
- Open an internet browser and type in 192.168.1.1
- Enter the user name and password
User name : admin
Password : Use the password on the back of the modem - Select ‘Wireless’ in the left hand menu.
- Under 2.4GHz Wireless Network, enter your new Wi-Fi name in the box labelled ‘SSID’
- Select ‘Security’ in the left hand menu
- Enter a new Wi-Fi password in the box labelled ‘WPA/WAPI passphrase’
- Under 5GHz Wireless Network, enter your new Wi-Fi name in the box labelled ‘SSID’. We recommend using the same name you entered above.
- Select ‘Security’ in the left hand menu
- Enter a new Wi-Fi password in the box labelled ‘WPA/WAPI passphrase’
- Enter a new password in the box labelled Password. We recommend using the same name you entered above.
- Press ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.
Product Care & Safety
- Do not cover modem or restrict airflow to vents.
- Do not place the modem in direct sunlight or heat.
- Do not tamper or open the modem.
- Please keep it away from moisture and water.
