Sunday Saver FAQs

I'm already with Electric Kiwi, how do I switch to the Sunday Saver plan and what will my first payment be?

Jump on live chat and the team can get you switched over to this plan.

Your first payment will include any running balance on your account, so they can confirm the exact total for you.

Will I be charged $250 every month?

No fixed monthly payments here! We only top up your account when your credit runs out. You can keep an eye on your running balance in the Kiwi Central app.

Is the power I use on Sundays actually free with Sunday Saver?

Sure is! All power during the free Sunday period is free from 12:00 AM – 11:59 PM. The only charge that applies is the daily fixed charge.

What happens to my remaining credit if I close my account?

After your final usage comes through, we will refund any remaining credit to your card or account. No exit fees or anything like that to worry about.

Is there a solar buyback rate with Sunday Saver?

Yes! Sunday Saver includes a 9.2c/kWh solar buyback rate all day, every day (including GST).

What happened to Go250? Is Sunday Saver the same plan?

Sunday Saver is the new name for our Go250 plan. We have just updated the name to better reflect what makes it great. Free power every Sunday for your first 12 months is now front and centre, but everything else you loved about Go250 is still here.

Sunday Saver sounds good, but how do I know if it's right for me?

The team on live chat will be happy to talk you through it and run a quick comparison with your current plan to help you decide.

Does free power Sundays cover my daily fixed charges?

Free power Sundays applies to your power usage charges between 12am and 11:59pm on Sunday only. It doesn't cover your daily fixed charges for power, or any broadband or mobile charges.

What if I leave Sunday Saver during my free year?

If you switch to another power plan during your 12 months, whether that's with Electric Kiwi or another retailer, you'll forfeit any remaining free power Sundays — there are no exit fees or notice periods to worry about.

How much notice will I get before my year of free power Sundays ends?

We'll email you at least 30 days before your 12 months is up, so you know exactly what's coming and what your options are.

What happens after my 12 months of free power Sundays?

Before your free year wraps up, we'll send you an email letting you know what happens next. What continues for you depends on which Electric Kiwi services you have:

- Power + broadband + mobile: your free power Sundays keep rolling. No action needed.

- Fewer than three services: your power Sundays move to half price Sundays. Add the missing service or services to get back to free power Sundays.

The three services are power, broadband and mobile. You need one of each, not multiple connections of the same type. For example, if you have power and two mobile connections, that counts as two services, not three.

If your services change after your free year, your Sunday rate will update to reflect this. Drop below three services and your free power Sundays will stop and your Sunday usage will move to half price power rates. Add a service and meet the three-service requirement and you'll move back to free power Sundays. Allow up to 30 days for your plan to update.
